Although I’ve been interested in developing and pursuing bucket lists for a while now, there are several books, films, and blogs — while they’re not all directly about bucket lists they each depict a journey of some sort — that inspired me to document my own experiences. I would definitely recommend all of these books, movies, and blogs!
Books:
The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
My Year with Eleanor by Noelle Hancock
Pay it Forward by Catherine Ryan Hyde
What Do You Want To Do Before You Die? by Ben Nemtin, Dave Lingwood, Duncan Penn, and Jonnie Penn
Films and Television Shows:
Blogs:
Annette at Bucket List Journey, who has an incredible bucket list blog, and also provides a list of “48 Inspiring Bucket Lists for you to Stalk.”

Thanks for following my blog. I have crossed out so far, Finding and visiting a Meditation Maze, going for a Silent Retreat, starting a blog(!), eating out alone, seeing a movie alone, travelling alone, painting and having a gallery show. I did not even remember these until suggested by you to list them. Great posts and so happy you found me. I will be following.
I love your bucket list items :)! The Meditation Maze sounds so cool. Where have you traveled?!
I have travelled to India and Hong Kong alone. But other places are Europe, Costa Rica, Panama, but these were with my husband and friends. Travelling alone (with yourself!) made me realize how much I did not pay attention to because he was there with me! In Hong Kong I had an 8 hour layoff at the airport. On alighting and moving into the transit lounge we were each handed a voucher for $28/ to experience the new lounge. I went up and down the escalator 4 times before I worked up the nerve to ask about how I would go about it. Finally, a very sweet receptionist at the counter of the lounge asked me if I needed help. From there on I became a pro at asking for help if I needed it and enjoying the power that comes with decision-taking.
Yes the Maze is awesome! It is 10 minutes from where I live and after I walk it, I usually meditate and then write down what came to me. A great experience.
Wow, that is so great that you’ve traveled alone that often! I would love to try going on a trip, solely by myself. And I completely agree that the more you ask strangers for help, the better you get at it. Thanks for an insightful comment 🙂
Hi, I’ve nominated your blog for the Versatile Bloggers Award, I think your blog is great and I hope you’ll accept my nomination. 🙂 View it here! http://makeupandallthatjazz.wordpress.com/2013/10/10/the-versatile-blogger-award-yay-me/
Aww thanks so much for the nomination; I really appreciate it :)!
Can I recommend a book? Its called delivering happiness by Tony Hsieh . I think Its pretty interesting on what he talked about science of happiness.
Oh, that does sound really interesting and I love books about happiness, so thank you :)! I will definitely have to look into that now!
Thanks for the follow Christine! I’m looking forward to looking at your blog as well. Cheers!
Thanks for the follow Christine! Your blog is deeply inspiring!
Life is a journey. If you seek to spend it helping others, I offer admiration. Remember the moment and the story there-in before setting sights further down the path. You may become enraptured in then and lose touch with now. It is not needs or wants that matter but the journey of life and the minute moments that can become profound. Thank you for reading my verse. Perhaps I’ll see you again.
Ruhig
I think that is wonderful advice 🙂 I agree that sometimes I need to work harder on focusing on the present moment rather than always moving to what is next! Thank you Ruhig!
Great blog. Glad I found you today. Good luck with all your bucket list hopes, and plans, look forward to reading about them. 🙂
Thanks for the follow! I haven’t had a chance to reach much, but it sounds like you’re living the life I wanted to be living 10 years ago. Good luck!
