Join the Kind Acts Chain

Hi lovely readers!

I decided it might be fun, right before the holidays, if we do a project that will  hopefully make the world just a little brighter.

So if you’re interested in bringing yourself some fun holiday cheer, follow these simple steps:

1). Check out this incredible list of holiday acts of kindness that this radio station came up with, my “Kind Acts & Volunteering Bucket List”, or come up with your own kind act, and send a photo of you (or if friends, family, children, etc join in with you, include them in the photo too!) doing the act, along with a short paragraph describing what you did, how it brightened your holiday, and how you think it might have brightened another person’s (or peoples’) holiday(s) to my inbox at the Facebook page Project Light to Life.

2). After I receive your message, I will assign you a tracking number, then share your photo, message, and your tracking number in a post on Project Light to Life’s wall.

(I got the idea about the tracking # from

3). Finally, share your post that I put up on the page with at least one friend, family member, colleague, etc (via Facebook, Twitter, etc) asking him, her, or them to join in on the kindness chain by doing a kind act as well, sending a photo doing the act, and telling them to include YOUR tracking number in the message to me.

4). This way, as the chain continues you can see how many people YOU specifically influenced to do kind acts, by looking at how often your tracking number begins appearing on the page. Who knows, as the chain moves from friends, to friends of friends, etc, you may influence people across the globe!

I know this idea is not a new one, but many people, including one of my favorite authors Gretchen Rubin, the author of The Happiness Project say that the key to increasing your own happiness is to make someone else happy. Even if your act includes making a drawing for your daughter or holding the door open for someone, that would be great! (You don’t have to take a photo of the actual act, but maybe a photo of the drawing, of a swinging door, etc, just to give us an idea of what you did.) I plan on doing my own act this weekend, once finals are over, so will do the project as well!

So who’s ready to have some fun and start a movement that could really impact people? If you’re not yet ready, here’s some additional inspiration :):

So who’s interested :)? I look forward to receiving your messages!

P.S. Extra points for the person who notices what’s wrong with my Christmas hat!

  2. Pleasant post,fit for the season.Wishing you a wonderful holiday season.jalal

  3. Well… I don’t wanna brag: ‘How I helped someone (Chapter 12)… LOL! My friend was in the Hospital and got his Gull-Bladder out. Says he feels liter now. So I got him a rare collectors edition of Paul Mc. Cartney, on the cover of The Rolling Stone.

He didn’t read it. He immediately mummified it in plastic, so one day it will be worth big bucks to his family one day, a hundred years from now. Had I have known he was going to do that, I would have stayed a Creep!

Long and short, I think it’s a great idea; it’s just not for me that’s all. Every time I do something nice, someone hits me with crud…

    • Hahaha, points to you too for at least giving me a good laugh because I can totally relate to this! It stinks getting super excited about a gift, thinking you found just the right thing for someone, and then they’re either not excited or do something like you mentioned :p Anyway, I’m sure in some way he still appreciated the gesture & just think – you might make him rich someday! Lol

Hey Christine! This is an amazing idea! Just yesterday my co-worker and I decided to put together blessing bags and hand them out to the homeless here in Toronto on Christmas Eve. Got the idea from Lauren Conrad So we’re gonna head to wal-mart and fill the bags with necessities like mittens, socks, a hat, a blanket, etc.BTW… your name is spelt wrong on your Santa hat.:)

    • Thanks so much 🙂 And ahh, that’s such an kind, incredible idea! I would absolutely love to see either what the bags look like or even a pic of you guys actually giving it to someone! Either one would be awesome. Would you be interested in sending along a photo and I can include this write-up to Project Light to Life’s Facebook page once you follow through with it :)? And haha, I am impressed! Most friends or family members never figure it out, lol

I’ll definitely take a pic of the bags once we put them together. I’ll try and get a pic of us handing them out…but it depends on how cold out it is that night! It’s been pretty cold here lately…I barely take my hands out of my jacket pockets lol. But I’ll definitely send you pics.:) Re spotting the error…it must be because I’m a copy editor lol.

      • Okay, sounds great :); can’t wait to see it! And ahaha, that definitely makes sense then – the perfect candidate for catching stuff like that!

This is a great video posted by Project Light to Life. Let’s not only show kindness and love to our family and friends this year. Pass it along to those around you. You never know the difference you may make!

  11. I think there’s nothing wrong with your Christmas hat at all… especially not if your name is “Chistine” and it’s not “Christine”. 🙂

Hi Christine! I’m glad you enjoyed it.:) It was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life. It was sooo sad to hear people’s stories about how they ended up on the streets. It can happen to any of us at anytime.:( Thanks for being so encouraging. Happy New Year! – Donna

      • Aww I’ll bet, that would be really hard 😦 Thank you as well for being so inspiring and Happy New Year to you too!
